My husband and I went to this place for the first time tonight. My mom recommended it because she had stumbled upon it a month ago and loved it. This food is unbelievably tasty. This is not your traditional Taqueria style restaurant. It’s an upscale Mexican experience! I had a chicken mole enchiladas and my husband had the steak tacos. He asked for the fixings to be on the side and they came out so beautifully cut and fresh. The food is expensive, but it’s worth it.
We stopped in for dinner. A nice casual sit down dinner. Parking was full in the front and along the street. So we ended up parking around back along the train tracks. There is access from the lower level. They were great at taking care of us. Helpful server and the food came quick. Food was delicious as well. I had the vegetarian tacos and the added some of the black beans to it.
Wonderful hidden gem right in Valparaiso! Although Valparaiso has great options for Mexican dining, this place outranks them all. This is REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food prepared with an eye to detail and care. Every dish I tried was crafted with full flavor and presented in simple but tasteful style. The tacos were absolutely dynamite, even the kids steak taco was ridiculously good. Velero's offers adult beverages that are decently priced and very well made without skimping on the alcohol. I loved trying the different types of rice that are offered with the meals as well. If you've never had or tried coconut rice, treat your taste buds and give it a go. There was live music when I went but I don't know if they have that there every day. Parking is a little tight and difficult to navigate if you have a large vehicle so beware. This is a must try if you want something different than the run of the mill Mexican dining around Valparaiso.
Velero's is easily my favorite Mexican restaurant around. They have their own fresh spin and use inspiration from multiple different islands. The seasonal pomegranate guacamole is my personal favorite. The restaurant is clean, the bathrooms are clean, the food delicious, atmosphere is wonderful, amazing service and you leave full and happy. Instead of the usual chips and salsa you get a complimentary homemade tostitos all doctored up to perfection. If you haven't given this place a try I HIGHLY suggest it.
My husband and I went there for our date night. We were immediately seated upon entering. Our server, Olivia, took good care of us. She answered all my inquiries about menu items. I ordered seafood quesadillas for my appetizer. I was stuffed with delicious shrimp and lobster. It was served on bed of black beans. For our main course, I ordered the salmon, and my husband had the barbacoa tacos. I also ordered a cup of Mexican corn. The portion size was sharable. I'm definitely order the Barbacoa tacos next time. I look forward to dining on their rooftop or terrace this Spring and Summer.
Really fresh and delicious! The guac was amazing and I loved the margarita flight option. The mango with tajin rim was the best one! We will be back for sure!
Veleros Mexican Cuisine really hit it out of the park for us tonight! Flight of margaritas Guava, Mango and classic lime all phenomenal. Then a beautiful Mahi-Mahi Ceviche. So fresh we were longing for a beach. My husband got Barbacoa tacos which he loved and was so glad he got black Frijoles Charros. I got the Lamb Cazuela Barbacoa. The warm cooked cactus added such a good bite and earthyness to my meal, that a didn't expect and the Lamb was so tender. I devoured it and it was a great portion because my husband was eager to try mine. The Guava marg was so good a second was critical! With the app, marg flight, meals and additional drink the bill was a touch over 100 which we were perfectly happy with, considering the quality of the food! Thanks for a great meal
Not your typical Americanised Mexican cuisine. Authentic to the core. Flavors are beyond compare and freshness off the charts. Our server, Nestor, was attentive, caring to our questions and made marvelous suggestions for dining experience. I was skeptical when reading other reviews touting them as the best Mexican restaurant, but now, I'm a BELIEVER! *** UPDATE *** We been back many times since our first visit and I believe our last trip was the best ever. The presentation was off the charts and flavors even better! Get it on your list, you will not be disappointed!
